Obsidian is a naturally occurring volcanic glass formed as an extrusive igneous rock. Obsidian is produced when felsic lava extruded from a volcano cools rapidly with minimal crystal growth.
Its is considered a very powerful stone in protection from unwanted energies.
Providing a grounding cord from the base chakra to the center of the earth. It absorbs negative energy from the environments and blocks psychic attack and negative spiritual influences.

In ancient Mexican culture this stone was called Itzli, literally the god of stone, as it was used to make weapons for war as well as cutting tools for everyday use.
